I use a variety of mixed media to produce my work - household glosses, spray paints, acrylics, inks and various printing techniques, rarely using a paintbrush! The themes I have explored are ‘Orchids Series’, ‘Abstract Flowers’, ‘Interior Spaces’, ‘Architectural Influences’ and recently ‘Still Life’

My artistic career began with a Foundation course at the Reigate School of Art and Design as a mature student, going on to gain an HND with distinction in Surface Decoration.

I like to apply paint with real freedom and spontaneity to produce paintings that have energy and depth, exploring my passion for surface quality, colour, texture and tactility.

In my ‘Orchids Series’ drawn elements are introduced by silkscreen, which add bold contrast and energy, creating an arresting visual element.

My series of ‘Interior Spaces’ paintings have been very popular and are constantly evolving. As a starting point I use a found image or one of my own photographs, adding or removing elements as I feel necessary to enhance the composition. I then start to play with my materials, constantly adding and subtracting. I will often include abstract stencilling to add a sense of drama, and introduce rivets to add further interest. I also enjoy including text, whether stencilled or found words in magazines. The use of black lines and white space  have become an integral part of the structure of the finished piece.

My career highlights to date have been, being invited to exhibit fifteen of my ‘Orchids Series’ paintings exclusively at The Oxo Tower Restaurant on London’s South Bank. I have exhibited at The Brighton Art Fair, and been represented at The Affordable Art Fair (Battersea). I have participated in Surrey Artists Open Studios. I also take part in the annual exhibitions of Dorking Group of Artists and North Weald Art Group.
